Automated Solution Delivers Efficiency in Rice Bag Sorting
Our customer faced a pressing need for an automated solution to efficiently sort and transport their bagged product from the filling machine to the conveyors at their delivery dock. They had to handle hefty 100-pound bags of rice at a rate of 16 bags per minute. Recognizing the challenge, the customer turned to LEWCO, Inc. for our expertise and recommendations.
Through collaborative efforts and several iterative refinements, LEWCO engineers devised a cost-effective system solution. The innovative solution consisted of modular plastic belt conveyors that utilized strategically placed pneumatic diverters. Belt curves were also incorporated into the system.
During the development process, LEWCO went the extra mile by manufacturing a prototype conveyor to validate the diverter design. This proactive step revealed that an Intralox TRT belt was better suited than the initial flat-top belt concept.
LEWCO set up and rigorously tested the conveyors and pneumatic diverter system with the customer’s product to ensure flawless functionality. Prior to shipment, the customer watched the run-off test and was happy with the results. To accommodate a tight installation timeline, the units were shipped fully assembled, ensuring a seamless deployment.
