A Custom Conveyor Solution for Automated Pallet Handling
To help a customer improve palletizing efficiency and keep pace with growing production demands, LEWCO engineered a custom pallet handling system
featuring chain driven live roller (CDLR) conveyors, chain conveyors, chain transfers, and an automated pallet dispenser.
At the beginning of the conveyor system, powered walkie pallet trucks load stacks of empty 40″ × 48″ GMA-style pallets onto the chain conveyor feeding the dispenser, with the 40” edge leading. The dispenser can hold a stack of up to 16 pallets and automatically releases them one at a time to the next available robotic palletizing lane.
Designed for fixed-width pallets, the dispenser receives pallets at the 6 o’clock position and discharges them onto a chain conveyor at 12 o’clock. This straight-through layout fit the customer’s available space and created an efficient path to the downstream palletizing equipment.
Once palletized, the completed loads move to the unload area for removal by lift truck. The system manages up to 41 pallets per hour, each weighing as much as 3,000 pounds.
LEWCO’s heavy-duty pallet handling equipment is designed for demanding industrial applications. While the loaded pallets in this system weigh approximately 3,000 pounds each, LEWCO offers pallet conveyor solutions capable of handling unit loads up to 4,000 pounds. CDLR conveyors provide reliable transport for unitized loads such as pallets, containers, and drums, while chain conveyors are well suited for pallets oriented the “hard way,” as well as nonstandard or irregularly shaped loads.
By combining heavy-duty conveyor equipment with automated pallet dispensing, LEWCO delivered an integrated solution to help the end user increase throughput and reduce manual pallet handling.
LEWCO works with customers and system integrators to engineer and manufacture pallet handling solutions around each application’s load, layout, and automation requirements.
