Chain Conveyors for Manufacturing Personal Watercrafts
LEWCO and trusted integration partner, Air Specialists, recently helped a major Japanese motor manufacturer with their conveyor needs. The customer wanted to streamline their operation by adding new drag chain conveyors with a pop-up right-angle transfer. They needed to convey dunnage racks carrying personal watercraft hulls. Each rack measures 12 feet long by 4.5 feet wide and weighs 1,000 LBS.
A unique design challenge emerged due to the racks’ swivel casters, which sat below the conveying surface. Adding to the complexity, the chain conveyors could only be 12.25 inches high – nearly five inches lower than many standard designs. Rising to the challenge, LEWCO engineers developed an extended lift transfer system. The lift raised the racks just enough to allow the casters to clear the chain conveyor, enabling a successful transfer.
In addition, LEWCO provided a comprehensive electrical control package for seamless operation. This project highlighted LEWCO’s expertise in creative problem-solving and its commitment to delivering tailored, effective solutions for complex operational needs.
